Avant Mutual is seeking a highly skilled Corporate Lawyer to join our team as a Legal Counsel. In this role, you will be responsible for providing corporate, commercial, and financial services legal advice and governance advice to all of Avant's businesses.
Key Responsibilities- Undertake the review of marketing material to ensure legal compliance.
- Provide corporate legal, commercial, and governance advice to all of Avant's businesses.
- Draft, review, and negotiate contracts.
- Develop and maintain insurance product documentation.
- Provide statutory interpretation and advice on legislative reform impacting Avant's business.
- Support corporate litigation and provide legal advice on complaints and potential disputes.
- Develop and deliver staff legal training.
- Provide support to senior lawyers, the General Counsel, and the Office of the CEO.
- Tertiary qualifications (LLB or equivalent).
- Current NSW (or other Australian State) Legal Practitioner Practising Certificate – mandatory.
- Minimum 3 years' post-qualification experience in a mid or top-tier firm.
- Private practice experience in providing commercial legal advice.
- Previous experience working in an insurance and/or Australian financial services environment (beneficial).
- A pragmatic and commercial focus, including understanding of the commercial environment of the general insurance market.
- Highly developed stakeholder and people management skills.
- High level of written and spoken language skills.
- Understanding of the commercial environment of the general insurance market.
