To deliver this mission, our hydrographic and coastal resilience teams conduct accurate and efficient hydrographic surveys for nautical charting, route surveys and bathymetry for coastal zone management using an integrated solution consisting of remote sensing, lidar and acoustic sensor technology.

We are seeking an Electronic Technician to join our established Engineering team in Australia.

This role will provide first-line engineering support to Survey Operations in Australia and overseas, including both marine and land teams.

The role will involve time spent deployed to the field as well as based in the office providing remote support.

As part of the Technical Service team based in Fugro's Adelaide office, you will be responsible for:

  • Providing support to systems comprising embedded computers, lasers, optics, electronics, mechanics, servos, cameras, inertial navigation systems and interfacing those systems with appropriate vessels and vehicles
  • Conducting maintenance and acceptance testing to ensure systems and components are ready for service while tracking the asset management of those components
  • Installation and demobilization of systems into required vessels and vehicles
  • Providing remote support to teams while equipment is deployed
  • Assisting the engineering team with design input and review for ongoing improvements
  • Compliance with Quality Health Safety Security Environment (QHSSE) policies, standards and procedures

The role will involve travel to support business activities (intrastate, interstate and international). Weekend and after-hours work will also be required to provide support to teams while deployed.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Technical Support: Provide technical support to engineers and technicians for system installation, maintenance and troubleshooting.
  2. Maintenance and Testing: Conduct regular maintenance and testing of systems to ensure they are functioning correctly and efficiently.
  3. System Installation and Demobilization: Install and demobilize systems in required vessels and vehicles.
  4. Remote Support: Provide remote support to teams while equipment is deployed.
  5. Design Input and Review: Assist the engineering team with design input and review for ongoing improvements.
  6. Compliance: Ensure compliance with QHSSE policies, standards and procedures.

Required Skills and Qualifications

The successful candidate will have:

  • Diploma in Electronics or Mechatronics (or related relevant courses or experience)
  • Previous experience and knowledge in operating and maintaining electromechanical systems
  • Proficiency with computers and ability to learn software required for systems operation
  • Ability to comprehend electrical and electronic schematic diagrams
  • Able to read and interpret mechanical drawings
  • Previous mechanical and electronics assembly experience
  • Strong fault diagnostic skills
  • Ability to work autonomously and under pressure
  • Hold work rights for Australia
  • Hold or able to obtain a passport
  • Ability to travel and be away from home for periods of time
