Job Summary

The Arkansas Department of Correction (ADC) is seeking a highly skilled Construction Project Specialist to oversee and train inmate workers in the installation and maintenance of various aspects of a construction project, including electrical, refrigeration, and plumbing systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and train inmates in the installation and maintenance of electrical systems and devices, providing safety and equipment instructions, issuing tools, and assigning work.
  • Inspect work in progress and upon completion to ensure compliance with architectural plans and manufacturer's specifications.
  • Estimate material needed for jobs, obtain bid quotes, and prepare purchase requests.
  • Perform security duties, including counting inmates, writing disciplinarians, and transporting inmates.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • The formal education equivalent of a high school diploma, plus completion of required education or training, and a license or certification in one or more of the applicable skilled trades.
  • Two years of experience in the skilled trade area, including one year in a leadership capacity.
  • Licensed as a Journeyman Electrician, Master Plumber, or Licensed in heating, air conditioning, and refrigeration.
Working Conditions

This position has regular contact with inmates and requires occasional overtime, 24-hour on-duty shifts, and in-state travel.
