Casualty Underwriter Role

The Casualty Underwriter position involves evaluating and managing new and renewal Casualty accounts in line with established guidelines. It requires building relationships with assigned brokers and pursuing target opportunities through effective business planning.

Responsibilities:

  • Evaluating new lines, renewals, and endorsements within delegated authority.
  • Making recommendations for acceptance or declination on risks exceeding authority.
  • Assisting managers in providing input on profit analysis, premium planning, market, and environment analysis.
  • Responsible for underwriting results of assigned producers.
  • Working within the Casualty department to develop and maintain a Primary, Umbrella, and Excess Liability portfolio in accordance with Chubb's underwriting strategy.
  • Selecting new risks and underwriting renewals for assigned books of business or designated speciality classes or market segments.
  • Producer Relations involve responsible for profit and premium growth of assigned producers, including producer account control, book composition, and analysis.
  • Visiting assigned producers to discuss risks, communicate business appetites, and produce new business.
  • Managing relationships with assigned producers and providing supervisors with input on premium planning variance.
  • People Development may involve assisting in underwriting training and producer relations.
  • Finding solutions to unique underwriting situations and understanding pricing techniques, account servicing costs, alternative risk transfer, reserve development by individual case and book of business, key accounts in the Branch, and underwriting appetites of other departments.
