Autonomous Field Validation Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Autonomous Field Validation Engineer to contribute to our innovative projects. This role involves a diverse range of responsibilities including the integration and commissioning of autonomy hardware, deploying and fine-tuning autonomous vehicle software, coordinating tests with asset managers, and conducting on-vehicle testing and validation. You will also be responsible for compiling and presenting test results to controls engineers, autonomy engineers, and management.

Key Responsibilities

As an Autonomous Field Validation Engineer, your duties will include:

  • Integrating, troubleshooting, and commissioning drive-by-wire and autonomy hardware systems.
  • Managing in-production facilities and field operations, including the deployment and testing of autonomous vehicle software and dynamic control systems.
  • Executing tests for new firmware, software, or hardware components.
  • Deploying software on embedded Linux platforms.
  • Creating detailed test plans and schedules.
  • Developing operational instructions for vehicle operators.
  • Regularly reporting and collaborating with NPI development teams to resolve issues and suggest product enhancements.
  • Conducting failure analysis to determine the root causes of customer-reported issues.
  • Working independently with minimal supervision to gather data and complete necessary vehicle performance assessments.
  • Contributing to customer documentation and training materials for various software applications.
  • Assisting customers with the configuration and ongoing usability of system hardware and software.
Qualifications

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline or equivalent experience.
  • Hands-on experience with vehicle electrical systems and hardware installations.
  • Willingness to travel to operational sites as required.

  • Knowledge of CAN bus communication and diagnostics (J1939).
  • Experience in testing controls and actuators.
  • Familiarity with data acquisition equipment such as National Instruments tools.
