Role Overview

We are seeking a qualified School Counsellor to provide therapeutic interventions and support to students and families in Catholic schools across Canberra and Goulburn.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to work with our team to make a positive difference in people's lives. As a School Counsellor, you will be an integral part of a school's pastoral care program, working with students, families, and school staff to build safety, recovery, relationships, and resilience for children and young people's social, emotional, and educational wellbeing.

Your Key Responsibilities
  • Provide individual and family counselling to students and their families from your schools.
  • Develop and implement therapeutic/psychoeducational groups for student cohorts and year presentations.
  • Design and deliver professional development for school staff on various topics related to child wellbeing and resilience.
  • Prioritise maintaining high standards of clinical and administrative practice in accordance with our policies.
About You

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • A qualification in Social Work (including eligibility for membership of Australian Association of Social Workers) or registered as a Psychologist with AHPRA or a Degree-qualified counsellor with registrations with ACA or PACFA (level 3 or 4).
  • Significant experience in providing evidence-based therapeutic interventions with children, young people, and their families.
  • Strong knowledge of issues affecting children, young people, and families, including current approaches to supporting wellbeing and building relationships and resilience.
  • Experience working within a child safety framework that prioritises client-centred and family-focused practices.
  • Excellent relationship-building skills to maintain effective stakeholder relationships and promote the counselling service to the local community.
What We Offer

We offer a competitive salary range of AU$70,000 - AU$90,000 per annum, depending on qualifications and experience, plus benefits including:
