About the Role

This pivotal position contributes to risk management strategies. As a seasoned Underwriter, you will evaluate the creditworthiness of clients, assess the risk associated with lending and investment activities, and provide recommendations to support sound decision-making.

Your Responsibilities Include:
  • Conducting thorough analyses of mortgage applications
  • Managing delegations of up to $2.5m
  • Mentoring junior underwriters to foster professional growth
  • Cultivating relationships with brokers and customers
  • Offering scenario assistance to Business Development Managers and Brokers
Key Qualifications
  • At least 2 years of underwriting experience in residential mortgage sector, particularly focusing on non-conforming mortgages

  • A comprehensive understanding of regulatory legislation
  • Proactive problem-solving skills and strong initiative
  • Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with a professional telephone manner
  • A technical understanding of underwriting and ability to communicate coherently to clients, customers, and colleagues
  • Strong commercial acumen and ability to shape and negotiate deals
  • The ability to thrive in high-pressure environments
