Job Title: Casual Art Gallery Installer

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Casual Art Gallery Installer to join our team at Wagga Wagga City Council.

About the Role

The successful candidate will assist the Curator and Gallery Technical Officer in preparing, installing, and de-installing 2D/3D artworks and audio-visual equipment. This role requires a high level of attention to detail and the ability to work under pressure.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the preparation, installation, and de-installation of artworks and equipment.
  • Provide excellent customer service and maintain a high level of principles in relation to artwork handling.
  • Operate tools and equipment as directed, including cordless power tools, hand tools, ladders, and laser levels.
  • Support the unwrapping and wrapping of artworks with care.
  • Undertake manual lifting of exhibition furniture, movable wall sections, and loading/unloading of trucks.
  • Assist in positioning lighting on artworks and preparing wall surfaces for exhibitions.
  • Maintain and clean exhibition spaces and work areas.
  • Conduct artwork condition reporting as directed.
Requirements
  • Relevant qualifications and experience in the arts, gallery, or museum sector, customer service, and/or retail.
  • Previous experience in installing complex exhibitions, preferably in a cultural organization.
  • Ability to work in a small team and under the direction of a team leader.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to work under pressure.
  • High motivation and enthusiasm.
