Fire Emergency Response Specialist

Queensland Fire and Emergency Services is a leading emergency service agency responsible for ensuring the safety of people and property across Queensland through effective prevention, preparation, response, and recovery activities in various emergency situations.
The organization comprises the Fire and Rescue Service, the Rural Fire Service, and the State Emergency Service, supporting other volunteer groups providing emergency response to Queenslanders. QFES delivers high-quality fire, rescue, emergency, and disaster management services as a single agency, promoting improved safety outcomes for the community.
Purpose of the RoleThe role of an Auxiliary Firefighter at QFES is unique, requiring collaboration with stakeholders to achieve improved safety outcomes for the community. As part of this collaborative approach, individuals will be expected to work together to respond to emergency incidents, promote community safety, and contribute to ongoing skills acquisition and maintenance programs.
Key Responsibilities- Respond to fire and other emergency incidents as part of a team, adhering to ARTEP (FFGC085) standards and guidelines.
- Promote community safety and emergency preparedness by contributing to education and awareness activities.
- Develop and maintain competencies through regular drills, training courses, and other relevant professional development opportunities.
- Maintain attendance standards for emergency incidents and training sessions.
- Operate specialist firefighting and rescue equipment safely and effectively.
- Contribute to upkeep and hygiene of station facilities.
- Ensure the maintenance and repair of operational equipment and facilities.
- Support incident reporting and general station administration as required.
- Australian Permanent Resident Status.
- Manual C-Class driver's license.
- Employer's written consent to attend incidents and emergencies.
- Live or work within a reasonable distance of an auxiliary fire station.
- Commitment to attending 50% of calls as a day worker or 30% as a shift worker or non-routine hours.
- Attending 75% of regular drill and training sessions.
- Obtaining an MRV license within 12 months of employment.
- Participating in ongoing skills acquisition and maintenance programs, including first aid/emergency care.
- Focusing on performance and results-oriented goals.

The estimated annual salary range for this position is $60,000-$80,000 AUD, depending on qualifications and experience.
