We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Database Administrator to join our team at Link Group. As a key member of our Technology team, you will be responsible for ensuring the efficient, functional, and stable operation of our database environment across multiple platforms.
Key Responsibilities- Database Administration: Provide technical support to core business application environments to ensure 24x7 availability, and ensure that the Database Administration practice follows the Information and data security policies.
- Database Performance: Analyze, develop, and implement processes to secure, reduce downtime, and optimize database performance.
- DBA Support: Provide support to MUFG Retirement Solutions SQL Server databases, including maintaining and enhancing current procedures, upgrading and patching SQL Server from earlier versions, backup and recovery of databases, and database performance assessment and optimization.
- Database Security: Implement technologies related to replication, mirroring, log shipping, availability groups, partitioning, and migration and data movement to Azure.
- Metadata Management: Support metadata packages (SSIS) for reporting purposes.
- Data Quality and Integrity: Assist in maintaining data quality and integrity and ensure adequate capacity for database growth.
- Best Practices: Adopt and apply best practice approaches for the operating environment.
- Monitoring and Escalation: Effectively monitor system status alerts and escalate where appropriate.
- Change Management: Raise change controls for defects as required.
- Software Evaluation: Evaluate software suitability and viability to determine its usefulness in addressing the needs of MUFG Retirement Solutions.
- User Access and Security: Manage user access and security controls.
- Disaster Recovery: Implement and review disaster recovery strategy.
- Team Leadership: Coach and mentor team members to strengthen specific knowledge/skill within the technology area and support Team Leader as and when required.
- Documentation and Compliance: Develop and maintain documentation related to standard operations procedures and maintain awareness and follow ITIL best practices.
- Information Security: Manage and resolve information security corrective actions and raise security incidents and breaches with management.
- Tertiary Qualification: Tertiary qualification in Computer Science.
- Experience: Over 8 years' experience in supporting large complex 24x7 application environments in financial services industry.
- Database Experience: Experience supporting multiple large databases on SQL Server hosted on-prem and on Azure and database DevOps experience is essential.
- Technical Skills: Sound knowledge of MSSQL RDBMS and SQL problem-solving and scripting is essential.
- Additional Skills: Experience in T-SQL programming, data analysis, and design, high availability and disaster recovery process, performance tuning, performance analysis, and resolution, and experience with Power BI Gateway management and PowerShell or similar shell scripting language.
- Analytics or Machine Learning: Experience in analytics or machine learning platforms.
- Other RDBMS Platforms: Experience in other RDBMS platforms like Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL.
