Job Opportunity

The Australian Capital Territory is seeking expressions of interest from eligible and suitably qualified individuals for appointment as a Magistrate to the Magistrates Court.

Key Responsibilities

The appointed Magistrate will be responsible for exercising functions of a Magistrate, including adult and children's criminal matters, care and protection, civil matters, industrial criminal and civil matters, and coronial inquests. It is essential that the Magistrate does not engage in any other employment without prior consent.

Selection Criteria

The selection criteria are outlined in the Magistrates Court Act 1930 and the Magistrates Court (Magistrates Appointment Requirements) Determination 2009.
