Rising Sun Pictures, a renowned visual effects facility, is seeking a highly skilled Senior Compositor to join its dynamic team in Brisbane. This long-term contract opportunity is open to both Australian and international applicants.

Job Description

As a Senior Compositor at Rising Sun Pictures, you will be responsible for creating high-end composites for live-action feature films using Nuke-based effects. You will work closely with the Head of Compositing to deliver multi-layered composites that set the creative and technical benchmarks for your team.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Create complex composites from mixed sources that integrate efficiently into the compositing pipeline.
  • Work with the lead to implement sound production workflows and supervise junior team members if required.
  • Lead sequences or small teams from turnover & Look Dev to delivery as needed.
  • Interpret project needs, schedules, briefs, and feedback to prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Develop Nuke scripts that streamline the compositing process.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure seamless integration and meet compositing objectives.
  • Maintain a deep understanding of colourspaces, formats, and expert colour grading techniques to achieve stunning results.
  • Adapt comp setups as the brief evolves and resolve any issues with your own Nuke script.
Requirements and Qualifications

To succeed as a Senior Compositor at Rising Sun Pictures, you will need:

  • A minimum of 5-7 years' experience in creating high-end composites for live-action feature films.
  • Expert knowledge of Nuke, including Nuke scripting and tool development.
  • Familiarity with other industry-standard software such as Maya, Houdini, and tracking tools.
  • Superior attention to detail and strong understanding of colour theory, composition, and capture formats.
  • Real-world understanding of physics, math, proportion, depth, light, and colour.
  • Excellent organisational skills and ability to maintain a calm, professional demeanour under pressure.
  • Technical and creative problem-solving skills, along with a can-do mindset.
  • Working knowledge of the VFX pipeline and entire post-production process.

The estimated salary for this position is around $120,000 - $180,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.
