The Role
The Welding Inspector position is designed to enhance and expand the company's coded welding capabilities. This role is critical in managing site-based weld inspections, maintaining welder qualifications, and ensuring that all welding activities adhere to relevant standards and procedures. The role is based in Perth with occasional travel to WA mines sites.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct visual inspections on welds to ensure compliance with WPS standards
- Monitor welding parameters and oversee the use of proper welding techniques
- Coordinate with NDT personnel to prepare welding joints for NDT testing
- Address quality-related concerns
- Adhere to Quality Procedures in all duties
- Supervise welding processes to ensure adherence to welding parameters
- Provide guidance and support to welding teams
- Monitor compliance progress continuously
About You
We are seeking a subject matter expert in welding with a strong background in welding inspections, preferably with demonstrated experience in setting up systems and processes within a welding environment. You will be able to demonstrate:
- A minimum of three years of experience as a welding QC inspector
- Possession of at least Certificate 10; AS1796 or AS2214 certification
- Proficiency in welding inspection and quality control practices
- Demonstrated practical welding abilities
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Familiarity with Australian standards concerning structural steel and welding
- Background in Quality Assurance and checking procedures
