Domestic Animal Services Coordinator

This position involves acting as a delegated officer for council, working closely with the community safety and regulation team.
The municipality covers 1256 square kilometres, including 250km of beaches, trails and paths, and 40,000 registered domestic animals.
You will be assigned a designated area of the Geelong region, responding to customer service requests on issues related to domestic animals and livestock.
Key Responsibilities:
- Attend promptly to customer inquiries/complaints, providing feedback in accordance with council's service commitments.
- Conduct complex investigations into breaches of legislation, including serious dog attacks and nuisance complaints.
- Seize and impound domestic animals and livestock.
- Work collaboratively with state agencies in emergency response situations, ensuring animal safety.
- Proactively patrol the municipality for breaches, following up with enforcement action.
- Participate in the emergency after-hours on-call roster, providing a 24/7 service to the community.
To succeed in this role, you must be a resilient, customer-service-focused team player who can work autonomously.
Understanding evidence gathering processes, research and legal brief preparation is essential.
Effective communication with diverse people, problem-solving and making agile decisions are necessary skills.
Relevant qualifications, such as certificate IV government or equivalent experience, are required.
