Job Description:

The Technical Assistant will play a key role in supporting our mosquito rearing activities at our facility in Clayton, VIC.

Main Responsibilities:

  1. Maintain laboratory and insectary spaces in a clean and well-organised condition.
  2. Implement Biosecurity and OGTR-approved procedures for waste management and disposal.
  3. Prepare glassware, plasticware, and rearing equipment for mosquito production teams.
  4. Ensure a continuous supply of laboratory materials and equipment.
  5. Safely dispose of hazardous materials and maintain a well-organised workspace.
  6. Adhere to SOPs, OHS policies, and biosecurity protocols.

Key Selection Criteria:

The successful candidate will possess:

  • a diploma-level qualification with relevant work experience;
  • or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Desirable Skills and Qualifications:

  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
  • Ability to follow standard procedures and exercise good judgement.
  • Capacity to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Willingness to learn and apply policies, including OHS and biosecurity procedures.
