About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Heavy Equipment Mechanic to join our client's team in Mackay, QLD. This is a great opportunity for a skilled Diesel Fitter to work on a variety of heavy machinery and equipment.

Job Description

The primary focus of this role is to perform maintenance, repair, and recondition jobs on earthmoving machinery to a satisfactory standard of quality workmanship and in a timely manner.

Your duties will include:

  • Performing maintenance, repair, and recondition jobs on all equipment sold and/or serviced by the Company as directed by the Leading Hand or immediate supervisor
  • Researching and consulting the correct and latest service information systems for specific procedures, instructions, and specifications
  • Researching and using the correct and latest parts and service information systems to order parts, as well as a guide to correct disassembly/assembly details
  • Taking all reasonable steps to ensure that assigned tasks are free of faulty workmanship, assuring quality in the finished product
  • Ensuring repairs are carried out using the appropriate control guidelines to prevent rework jobs from occurring
  • Ensuring all assigned tasks are completed within required target times
  • Determining reusability of all disassembled parts
  • Researching to ensure that the latest or improved parts are fitted/used on each job
Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Certificate III in Engineering
  • Minimum three to five years' experience in a similar role or equivalent
  • Valid 'Class C' Driver's Licence
  • Desirable tickets: OHG RII, HRWL FL, HRWL DG, EWP RII, W@H RII
  • Skills to diagnose and repair basic electrical circuits and electronic controlling systems
  • Competent to repair, rebuild, and replace engines and drive lines in large earth-moving equipment
  • Diagnostic skills to ensure a fault/issue is identified to its root cause before parts replacement
  • Competent to diagnose, repair, and replace hydraulic systems and components, including in-depth testing
