Wall and Floor Tiling Apprenticeship

Are you passionate about working with your hands and creating something from scratch? Do you have an eye for detail and enjoy seeing the results of your efforts? If so, consider an apprenticeship in Wall and Floor Tiling with Mtesa.

As a Wall and Floor Tiling apprentice, you will work with a quality Host Employer to complete on-the-job and off-the-job training. You will be provided with ongoing support to help you achieve your career goals and become qualified with a 4-year apprenticeship.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Laying ceramic, clay, slate, glass, travertine, and other types of tiles on external and internal walls and floors
  • Preparing wall and floor surfaces by removing old tiles, grout, cement, and adhesive
  • Attaching tiles to surfaces, using appropriate adhesive, and ensuring patterned tiles match
  • Using tile-cutting tools to cut and shape tiles needed for edges, corners, or around obstacles such as fittings and pipes
  • Correctly spacing tiles by using tools such as spirit levels, squares, and plumb lines
  • Preparing and applying grout, removing excess grout, cleaning, and polishing tiles
  • Laying floors of cement, granolithic, terrazzo or similar composition

Requirements:

  • Team-oriented and passionate about developing your skills and knowledge
  • Desire to work in the tiling industry
  • White card and focus on health and safety
  • Current driver's licence and access to a reliable vehicle
  • Experience as a team player through employment or team sports
  • Positive attitude to new challenges
  • Great communication skills
  • Eye for detail and physical fitness
