**Job Title:** Gas Expert

We are seeking a highly skilled professional to provide effective, long-term planning and technical support using specialist knowledge of gas monitoring, modelling, and management practices.

The successful candidate will be accountable for developing and maintaining pre and post gas drainage models for a 5-year horizon, deriving targets from business expectations, and confirming gas drainage risks. They will also recommend strategies based on impact, costs, and health, safety, and environment (HSE) considerations.

This role requires strong strategic thinking, planning, and problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to provide technical and operational leadership.

The ideal candidate will have experience in a Gas and Ventilation function in the mining or oil and gas industry, hands-on knowledge of gas monitoring, modelling, and management practices, and a strong understanding of key safety risks and ways to mitigate them.

We require a degree qualification in a relevant technical discipline, demonstrated experience working in a Gas and Ventilation function, and knowledge of QLD Coal Mining Health and Safety Act 1999 and Regulations 2017.

This is a full-time permanent position with a competitive salary and benefits package, including 12% superannuation and annual incentives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain pre and post gas drainage models for a 5-year horizon
  • Derive targets from business expectations and confirm gas drainage risks
  • Recommend strategies based on impact, costs, and HSE considerations
  • Provide technical and operational leadership
  • Mentor and guide sites on gas drainage and HPI investigation
  • Assist with LW SGE Modelling for a 5-year horizon

Requirements:

  • Degree qualification in a relevant technical discipline
  • Demonstrated experience working in a Gas and Ventilation function
  • Knowledge of QLD Coal Mining Health and Safety Act 1999 and Regulations 2017
