About the Role

At Albury Wodonga Health, we are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Koori Mental Health Liaison Officer to join our dynamic mental health team.

This is an exceptional opportunity for a dedicated professional who is passionate about delivering culturally sensitive mental health services to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.

The successful candidate will be responsible for building strong relationships with local Aboriginal health services, community organizations, and other stakeholders to promote mental health awareness and support service access.

Key Responsibilities
  • To develop and implement culturally appropriate mental health programs and services that meet the needs of local Aboriginal communities
  • To work closely with multidisciplinary teams to provide comprehensive mental health care and support to Aboriginal clients
  • To engage in outreach activities, such as visiting remote communities, to promote mental health awareness and provide education on available services
  • To collaborate with local health services and organizations to identify and address barriers to mental health service access
  • To contribute to the development and implementation of policies and procedures that promote cultural safety and respect

Requirements

To be considered for this role, you will need:

  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant field, such as psychology, social work, or nursing
  • Experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, preferably in a mental health setting
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with diverse stakeholders
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think creatively and develop innovative solutions
  • A commitment to cultural safety and respect, with the ability to adapt to changing circumstances and priorities
