Steel Fabrication Project Manager

About the Role
This position is responsible for overseeing the safe and successful management of steel fabrication construction projects from start to finish. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in structural steel and experience in managing construction projects that meet environmental regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide technical expertise and guidance to the team on structural steel matters.
- Manage the end-to-end process of structural steel fabrication, including drawing development, fabrication, testing, and shipping.
- Ensure the implementation and monitoring of the McNab Quality Management System and Quality Management Plan throughout the project.
- Review structural designs to ensure completeness and collaborate with structural engineers on technical matters.
- Oversee the proper testing of major weld points during fabrication and ensure the use of appropriate welding techniques.
- Possess knowledge of third-party testing requirements and various steel grade members.
- Understand blasting and paint requirements, including Class 1 and 2 Painting.
- Document all necessary certificates and warranties.
- Collaborate with the project team to provide input on project planning and program outcomes.
- Support design managers by providing feedback and ensuring design timelines and milestones are met.
About You
- Valid driver's license and current passport, with a willingness to travel locally and internationally.
- Bachelor of Engineering with at least 5+ years' experience in a similar role within the construction industry.
- Experience in establishing construction systems, processes, and procedures.
- Strong knowledge of statutory regulations and Australian Standards.
- Proficient in management reporting, presentation, and problem-solving with attention to detail.
- A proactive approach to resolving issues and excellent attention to detail.
- Intermediate MS Office Skills.
- Proficient Computer-Aided Design (CAD) and Tekla skills.
- Flexible with hours of work and willing to travel.
- Construction White Card.
