About the Role
The Senior Legal Advisor provides highly complex specialist legal advice and support to all areas of the business. This role is directly responsible for mitigating legal risks associated with company operations and strategic initiatives, overseeing the drafting, review, and negotiation of contracts, agreements, and other legal documents, managing and overseeing any litigation or legal disputes involving the company, and managing relationships with clients and external regulatory bodies.
Responsibilities
- Negotiate Contracts: Representing Indue by negotiating contracts and contractual terms in accordance with risk management frameworks.
- Investigation and Analysis: Investigating, analyzing, and evaluating commercial and operational issues from legal, contract, and risk perspectives and making recommendations to senior management on risk mitigation.
- Legal and Regulatory Developments: Remaining abreast of legal and regulatory developments applicable to Indue's activities and providing advice to the business about these changes.
- New Product Development: Assisting in new product development and having final oversight of contracts for new products.
- Regulatory Change Projects: Supporting the Risk Function to ensure the company has sound governance, risk, and oversight policies and programmes in place.
About You
You will have all or most of the following skills and attributes:
- Law Degree: A degree in Law with an unrestricted practicing certificate.
- Experience: Minimum 10 years' experience in a similar position.
- Industry Expertise: Significant experience in the banking and finance industry with in-depth experience and understanding of ASIC, APRA, and AUSTRAC.
- Contract Negotiation: Significant experience in drafting and negotiating complex IT, banking facilities, and software contracts.
- Commercial Acumen: Demonstrated commercial acumen, with the ability to develop and drive the implementation of the legal and risk management framework that effectively balances risk with reward relative to the business strategy.
Salary: The estimated annual salary for this position is $200,000-$300,000.
