Katherine Town Council is the governing body for Katherine, a significant regional centre in the Northern Territory. We provide essential services to the community, including rates, roads, infrastructure, animal control, waste management, and more.
As a key player in the Big Rivers region, Katherine is strategically located at the crossroads of Northern Australia, connecting Perth to Darwin from the west and Adelaide to Darwin through the north/south highway and rail corridor.
The council serves a diverse community of over 10,000 people, including Defence personnel and their families at RAAF Tindal. Our vision is to create a welcoming, vibrant, family-friendly environment that fosters diversity and unity.
About the RoleThis administrative support role will provide assistance to the Infrastructure and Environment Services team, ensuring effective and efficient operations. The successful candidate will provide high-level administrative support, monitor project deadlines, and communicate with stakeholders.
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Providing administrative support to the Infrastructure and Environment Services team
- Liaising with external customers, user groups, and stakeholders
- Undertaking administrative duties related to tendering, procurement, and financial support
- Overseeing administrative duties related to service requests and contractor management
- Assisting with the management of Council facilities and services

Key RequirementsTo be successful in this role, you will need:
- Demonstrated ability to meet key responsibilities
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- High-level administrative skills, including ability to work independently
- High-level computer skills and experience with Microsoft Office products
- Ability to work collaboratively and cross-functionally
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a similar or related administrative role
The successful candidate will be expected to:
- Comply with workplace health and safety requirements
- Assist in the implementation of the Local Counter Disaster Sub-Plan
- Provide excellent customer service
- Foster sustainable relationships with the community and stakeholders
