General Practice Medical Officer Position

At our hospital, we require an experienced General Practice Medical Officer to deliver high-quality patient care in various settings.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide inpatient and emergency department services with expertise in managing complex medical conditions.
  • Offer outpatient consultations and procedures in private practice, including participation in after-hours and on-call rotations for seamless medical coverage.
  • Respond promptly to emergencies at the hospital, providing resuscitation and stabilizing patients as needed.
  • Handle acute medical situations like myocardial infarction, pulmonary edema, and diabetic ketoacidosis with expert advice and consultation.
  • Have flexibility to work in a general practice setting if desired.
  • Benefit from access to specialist advice through established networks within the Local Health District.
  • Produce timely reports for workers' compensation, legal matters, and insurance companies as required.

Requirements:

  • Hold a primary medical degree registrable with AHPRA and Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners.
  • Demonstrate recent and comprehensive experience in General Practice.
  • Have completed or be undertaking an Emergency Life Support course, with skills and interest in Emergency Medicine.
  • Be available to participate in an after-hours/on-call roster seven days a week.
