We are seeking a seasoned leader to spearhead the planning and execution of mowing and open space maintenance programs across the municipality.
This leadership position is responsible for overseeing internal mowing crews and contractors to ensure high-quality presentation of parks, reserves, and public open spaces. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering services in accordance with scheduled programs and standards, managing equipment and resources, and responding to community service requests.
The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in horticulture or open space maintenance, excellent leadership skills, and a proven track record of delivering high-quality results in a fast-paced environment.
- Develop and implement effective strategies for maintaining high-quality parks and open spaces.
- Oversee the work of internal mowing crews and contractors to ensure compliance with standards and schedules.
- Manage equipment and resources to maximize efficiency and effectiveness.
- Respond promptly to community service requests and concerns.
Key Requirements:
- Tertiary qualification in Horticulture or related field.
- Several years' experience working in local government or a similar environment.
- Experience in contract management.
- Demonstrated experience in parks and open space maintenance.
- Demonstrated understanding of contract administration, including monitoring and OH&S requirements.
- Demonstrated comprehensive knowledge of open space maintenance programs, with high-level problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge and skills in contemporary management practices, staff management, performance management, staff development, change management, and business excellence.
- Highly effective interpersonal skills, incorporating verbal and written communication, listening, liaison, advocacy, facilitation skills, and excellence in customer service delivery.
- Demonstrated capacity to effectively manage time, establish priorities, and achieve business and team objectives.
