Culinary Assistant

As a Trainee Cook, you will be responsible for assisting in the planning and provision of high-quality meals in a safe environment. Your role will involve working closely with the kitchen team to ensure smooth operations and timely meal service.

• You will assist in making sure the kitchen runs efficiently, and meals are served on time.
• Take part in menu planning and discussions to ensure that residents' dietary needs are met.
• Learn and follow food safety rules and regulations to maintain a clean and hygienic environment.
• Help prepare meals that meet the nutritional requirements of residents and clients.
• Follow safe work practices and ask questions when unsure to ensure your safety and the safety of others.
• Keep kitchen tools and equipment clean and in good condition to prevent accidents.
• Assist with checking, unpacking, and storing food supplies properly to maintain quality and freshness.
• Work as part of the team, communicating effectively with cooks, care staff, and the dietitian.
• Be open to feedback and support in handling any concerns or complaints related to food safety.

• A valid food safety certificate is required.
• You must adhere to confidentiality policies and procedures.
• Ability to work in a team environment is essential.
• Excellent communication skills are necessary for this role.
• BASIC computer skills are required.
• You must be able to follow policies and procedures.
• You will need to work within WH&S legislative requirements.
• You will be expected to demonstrate a commitment to codes of conduct and principles.

• Flexibility to work varied hours, including weekends, is desirable.
• A valid driver's license is preferred.
