Product Design Lead

We are seeking a talented and passionate Product Design Lead with a focus on UI to join our creative studio in Melbourne, Australia.

As the Product Design Lead, you will play a critical role in shaping the user experience of our products, including Stake and Kick. You will lead a small team of designers, guiding their growth and ensuring the delivery of high-quality design outcomes.

You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including product managers, engineers, and other stakeholders, to create user-centric designs that meet business objectives and delight our users.

Key Responsibilities

  • Mentor and nurture junior designers, fostering a collaborative and innovative design culture.
  • Work closely with product managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into effective design solutions.
  • Lead the design process from concept to final delivery, ensuring a high standard of quality and consistency.
  • Present design ideas and concepts to stakeholders, clearly articulating the rationale behind design decisions.
  • Facilitate design workshops, brainstorming sessions, and ideation sessions to align with stakeholders.
  • Create wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity designs that effectively communicate design ideas and solutions.
  • Help maintain design systems, style guides, and design patterns to ensure consistency across all products and platforms.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 5 years experience as a Product Designer, with a strong focus on UI design.
  • A portfolio showcasing a range of UI design projects and the ability to explain design decisions.
  • Solid understanding of user-centred design principles and methodologies.
  • Proficiency in design tools such as Figma and Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate design concepts and rationale.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to evolving project requirements.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, or a related field.
  • Experience leading and mentoring design teams, with excellent leadership and communication skills.
