Job Summary

We are seeking a talented professional to manage and build our patent portfolio. The successful candidate will be responsible for partnering with research scientists and engineers to develop a robust intellectual property strategy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as a trusted colleague to research & development teams on all IP issues, focusing on invention mining, patentability, patent prosecution, and freedom to operate locally and globally.
  • Align IP strategies with business and strategic plans to drive innovation and growth.
  • Build IP awareness, culture, and standard work within the organization.
  • Lead outside counsel in the preparation and prosecution of patent applications.
  • Provide educational presentations and training on IP matters to employees.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Chemistry, or Physics.
  • Registered patent agent before the Canadian Intellectual Property Office and/or U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Patent Agent/Junior Counsel in a law firm and/or in-house role.
