About the Role

The Disability Trust is seeking a highly motivated and reliable Disability Support Worker to join our Home and Living Supports Team in the ACT/ Queanbeyan region. As a Disability Support Worker, you will play a vital role in supporting people with disability through a person-centred approach to ensure quality of life, dignity, respect, and inclusion.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver personal care to participants in their home and in the community
  • Prepare and assist with meal preparation
  • Administer medication and offer mobility assistance
  • Support attendance at appointments and community-based events
  • Engage in skill building activities, both individually and in a group setting
  • Offer meaningful and active support to enable participants to achieve their personal goals
Requirements
  • Availability to work over a 24-hour rotating roster in alignment with our service offerings
  • Genuine desire to provide care for people with disability
  • Confidence to engage with a diverse range of people
  • Ability to connect with participants and team members to ensure a sense of value and respect
  • An understanding of privacy, confidentiality, and treating sensitive information appropriately
  • Qualification in disability/community services highly regarded but not essential
  • Cleared NDIS Worker Screening Check, Working with Children's Check, Working with Vulnerable People registration, and evidence of at least two (2) doses of COVID-19 vaccination or valid medical exemption before commencing
