Job Summary

The Principal Research Officer plays a pivotal role in supporting the work of committees, focusing on major legislative analysis and research. This involves scrutinizing bills and legislative instruments at a high level, analyzing data, and preparing comprehensive reports and briefs for committee review.

This position requires strong knowledge of legislation and its processes, as well as excellent analytical and writing skills. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading preparatory work for committee meetings, assisting with other committee business, and supervising junior staff members.

Additionally, the Principal Research Officer may be required to act as secretary to the committee on occasion and support the secretariat of the Parliamentary Joint Committee on Human Rights as needed.
