About this Culinary Role

Main Responsibilities
- Prepare high-quality meals that meet the nutritional needs of our residents and patients, following established menus and recipes.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and sanitary environment in the culinary services area, adhering to federal, state, and local regulations.
- Stock and manage food supplies, ensuring timely and efficient meal service.
- Portion food products accurately, following standard portion sizes and recipe specifications.
- Communicate with management regarding inventory levels and catering needs.
- Assist with maintaining department work areas and equipment in a clean and safe manner.
- Participate in training and coaching of cooking staff, as directed by departmental leadership.
- In the absence of supervisor, assume responsibility for food production operations.
Essential Qualifications
- A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Three years of experience in quantity and/or restaurant-style cooking is necessary.
- Knowledge of cooking methods and food trends, focusing on quality, production, sanitation, and presentation is crucial.
- Experience in food cost and operational control is preferred.
- Proficiency with Point of Sale (POS) and diet management software is also preferred.
Work Environment Details
- Sitting: Up to 4 hours/day
- Standing: Up to 8 hours/day
- Walking: Up to 8 hours/day
- Lifting, transferring, pushing or pulling: Up to 50 pounds
- Working weekends, evenings, and holidays is required as scheduled.
- Exposure to falls, burns, odors, and cuts may occur during work hours.
- Sudden temperature changes when entering/leaving refrigerators or freezers are possible.
- There may be exposure to infectious waste, disease, conditions, etc., during work hours.
