Key Responsibilities:
- Develop conceptual designs, solutions, and product specifications based on user requirements.
- Conduct in-house programming and testing for PLCs, OITs, and HMIs.
- Perform onsite work for municipal clients, including configuration of instrumentation, installation support, and control system/process startup and testing.
- When qualified, the Automation Engineer will be expected to be available on-call 24/7 to address instrumentation and control system issues, with a rotation of on-call duties among staff members. A response time of less than 15 minutes for initial contact during outages is anticipated unless prior arrangements have been made.
- Occasionally lift items weighing up to 50 pounds without assistance.
Qualifications:
- Degree in Engineering or Technology from an ABET-accredited institution.
- Minimum of 5 years' experience as an Electrical/Controls Engineer with a focus on design, programming, installation, and startup activities.
- At least 5 years' experience programming Allen-Bradley Logix platform PLCs.
- 5+ years' experience in fieldwork, including panel wiring, startup, and emergency troubleshooting support.
- 5+ years' experience in SCADA software development (FactoryTalk View SE, Ignition, Wonderware, VTSCADA, or iFix).
- 3+ years' experience programming Allen-Bradley PanelView or other manufacturers' touch screens.
- Strong computer and networking skills are essential, with advanced proficiency being a significant advantage.
- Excellent oral, written, and digital communication skills are required.
- Ability to interact effectively with colleagues and assist in communications with clients, customers, engineers, and contractors.
- Effective organizational skills for managing tasks and time efficiently.
- Commitment to ongoing self-development and learning to maintain technical proficiency.
- Must have reliable transportation for travel to various locations.
