To be successful in this role, you will need:
- 3+ years of relevant experience post trade.
- Australian Trade certificate is needed.
- Australian C class driver's license.
- Great understanding of Pneumatics and Hydraulics.
As a Heavy Equipment Technician, your key responsibilities will include:
- Installation, maintenance, and repair of machinery and vehicles, equipment, and associated control devices.
- Differentiate between unserviceable parts and components that are able to be reused without the likelihood of premature failure.
- Keep equipment cleaned, lubricated, and maintained.
- Adjust equipment and repair or replace defective parts.
- Test repaired equipment for proper performance and to ensure that the work done meets manufacturers' specifications.
- Service and repair engines, transmissions, hydraulic systems, and the electrical and electronic systems in heavy equipment.
- Use computers to seek service and parts information and download information from on-board computers in heavy machinery.
- Diagnose, repair, and maintain equipment, such as excavators, loaders, dozers, dump trucks, scrapers, motor graders, pipe layers, road rollers, paving products, underground machines, skid steer loaders, backhoes, compactors, forklifts, and on-highway trucks.
- Diagnose, repair, and maintain diesel engines used in power generation, and light vehicles.
- Detect mechanical and electrical faults by using gauges, instruments, and laptop computers that check machine electrical and electronic circuitry, fuel injection systems, hydraulic systems, engine speed control, engine condition, and performance.
