At Australian Red Cross Lifeblood, we are seeking a dedicated Healthcare Specialist to join our team at the Devonport Donor Centre.

About the Role

The primary responsibility of this role is to support donors throughout their donation process while ensuring the highest level of care and safety. As a Healthcare Specialist, you will work collaboratively with other team members to achieve collection targets and provide exceptional customer service.

Key Responsibilities
  • Greet and interview potential donors to understand their eligibility and suitability for donation
  • Complete routine blood pressure and haemoglobin tests to ensure donor safety
  • Set up machines, tubing, and collection bags for efficient blood collection
  • Insert and remove needles safely to collect whole blood, plasma, and platelets
  • Provide clinical oversight and guide other team members in the blood collection process
  • Manage adverse donor reactions by providing instructions and physical assistance
  • Monitor donors post-donation and assist them in rebooking for their next donation
Requirements
  • Occasional lifting of 9-22.7kgs is required
  • Frequent standing, walking, and bending to set up and pack down machines and blood products
  • Hold a current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse
  • Flexibility to work varied shifts on a fortnightly rotating roster from Monday to Saturday
