Job Description:

We are seeking a skilled Prompt Engineer to join our team and play a pivotal role in defining how artificial intelligence communicates with journalists.

As a Prompt Engineer, you will craft sophisticated language systems that power our newsroom tools, ensuring every interaction is precise, ethical, and aligned with our editorial standards.

  • You will serve as the bridge between advanced AI technology and practical journalism, designing, testing, and refining prompts that guide our AI models.
  • Closely collaborating with editorial teams, you will build tools that enhance workflow efficiency while maintaining the integrity of quality journalism.
  • Develop and fine-tune complex prompts that guide AI models to produce accurate, contextually appropriate responses for diverse journalistic applications.
  • Partner with journalists and editorial teams through structured interviews and workshops to understand workflow requirements and translate them into effective AI interactions.
  • Define and document excellence benchmarks for AI outputs, ensuring adherence to accuracy, relevance, tone, and editorial guidelines.
  • Build and maintain a comprehensive library of prompt patterns and strategies for organisation-wide use.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Passion for journalism and understanding of modern newsroom operations.

  • Demonstrated elementary coding experience, preferably Python, natural language processing (NLP), and prompt engineering using different models.
  • Strong grasp of language semantics and syntax, coupled with an experimental mindset.
