Early Childhood Specialist

The Newpin program involves parents and their children regularly attending a centre-based initiative to promote overall wellbeing, enhance parenting capabilities and support positive family dynamics.

This role focuses on facilitating therapeutic play experiences between parents and children, and coaching parents to develop healthy relationships with their children.

As the specialist in early childhood development within our team, this role requires working collaboratively to ensure all team members work from a child-centered, developmentally informed position.

You will have demonstrated experience working with parents and young children, as well as qualifications in early childhood development and skills in coaching and building attachment.

Our organisation is a leading not-for-profit entity working alongside South Australians each year to reduce inequality, improve overall wellbeing and overcome disadvantage.

This role requires you to work in a strengths-based, therapeutic environment and have knowledge of trauma and its impact on parents and children.

  • Facilitate and supervise therapeutic play experiences between parents and children
  • Coach parents to develop healthy relationships with their children

Key Responsibilities:

1. Facilitate Therapeutic Play Experiences

Develop and deliver therapeutic play initiatives that cater to the unique needs of families participating in the Newpin program.

2. Coach Parents

Provide coaching and guidance to parents on building and maintaining healthy relationships with their children, focusing on attachment and emotional intelligence.

3. Collaborative Working Environment

Work collaboratively with the team to ensure a child-centered approach to early childhood development, incorporating best practices and evidence-based research.
