Role Responsibilities

In this position, you will collaborate with a dynamic team to ensure a safe and supportive workplace for all employees. Your role will involve verifying that prospective employees meet all health-related standards prior to starting, as well as supporting current employees recovering from work-related and non-work-related injuries. Key responsibilities include:

  • Deliver specialized injury management, rehabilitation, and operational support to facilitate return-to-work outcomes for both work-related and non-work-related injuries.
  • Offer guidance and support in early intervention and preventative programs.
  • Design, develop, and implement site-specific and national health and wellness initiatives.
  • Provide leadership, coaching, and expert advice to senior management to foster a culture of health, safety, and well-being.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including People & Culture, Training, and Operations.
  • Develop and implement health and wellness strategies and resources that align with the business needs and the Coles Safety, Health, and Wellbeing Strategy.
  • Assist the recruitment and operations teams with the coordination and execution of pre-employment assessments.
  • Analyze injury data to identify trends and formulate proactive and preventative strategies.
Candidate Profile
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in injury management, workplace rehabilitation, or workers' compensation/self-insurance.
  • Expertise in managing a complex workers' compensation portfolio, including both physical and psychological injuries.
  • Experience in integrating a person-centered care model with workers' compensation legislation and business KPIs.
  • Proven ability to design, implement, and integrate health and wellness initiatives, considering practical workplace solutions and associated outcome measures.
  • Strong understanding of injury mechanisms, treatment requirements, rehabilitation processes, and return-to-work timelines.
  • Ability to influence various stakeholders and thrive in a dynamic environment with team members from diverse backgrounds.
  • Tertiary qualification in a health-related discipline (e.g., Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Exercise Physiology, Nursing).
  • Familiarity with relevant Workers' Compensation, Health, Safety, and Injury Management legislation.
  • Knowledge and experience across multiple jurisdictions are highly regarded.
  • Strong communication, engagement, relationship-building, and negotiation skills with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated experience in dispute resolution with key stakeholders.
  • Competency in gap analysis, trend analysis, internal audits, and strategic review and reporting development.
