Transform your career in the energy sector with Western Power, a leader in creating a clean energy future. We're seeking an experienced Distribution Network Designer to join our team of experts at South Metro Depot in Forrestdale on a Permanent Full-Time basis.

About this role:

Key Responsibilities
  • Estimate and undertake complex technical tasks for design, construction, and maintenance of Western Power or customer facilities connected to the Distribution Network.
  • Prepare accurate estimates for projects encompassing materials, labour, sub-contract services, and costing for work associated with construction activities and commissioning on single/basic circuits and associated apparatus or services.
  • Complete documentation, ordering of materials, entering and maintaining information in applicable computer systems, ensuring business processes are adhered to.
  • Undertake contract administration to ensure contractor compliance to design and specifications, identify non-conformances of contractors, review designs, work performance, works programs.
  • Respond to correspondence and queries raised by customers, construction and maintenance crews, and other stakeholders on quotes issued via DQM.
  • Ensure all variations to projects, procedures, programs, and processes are documented.
  • Prepare management reports for submission to the Team Leader.
  • Schedule and plan own daily and weekly allocated work in order to meet agreed targets.
  • Provide technical support to project management plans and other work groups.
  • Ensure compliance with all Western Power standards, quality, legal, and contractual requirements.

About you:

Requirements
  • Diploma/Advanced Diploma in a relevant electrical discipline.
  • At least 6 to 7 years' post-qualification experience in distribution network-related activities with a thorough knowledge of principles of the relevant discipline and a sound understanding of methods and practices.
  • Knowledge of Distribution Engineering standards, regulations, and procedures applicable to the Section and Stream is necessary.
  • Sound IT skills in required programs and systems.
  • Able to complete project/assignment within specific guidelines.
  • Demonstrated skill in priority setting, activity planning, and organizing.
  • Demonstrated skills in problem-solving and root cause analysis.
  • Have skill in developing and maintaining work standards.
  • Demonstrated teamwork and conflict-resolving skills.
  • Able to identify and develop methods, processes, and systems for continuous improvement.
