Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Water Design Engineer to join our team at Brunel. As a key member of our water resources group, you will be responsible for designing and implementing hydraulic systems for various projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Hydraulic Modeling: Conduct comprehensive hydraulic modeling for water systems, including pipelines, borefields, pump stations, ponds, and tanks.
  • Work Package Preparation: Prepare detailed work packages with construction drawings, quantity estimates, and scope definition while collaborating with key stakeholders.
  • Project Review and Inspection: Facilitate project design reviews, field inspections, and ensure compliance with basis of design criteria.
  • Engineering Deliverables: Develop final engineering deliverables, such as pipeline schematics, GA's, P&ID's, and select critical equipment.
  • Capital Estimates and Quantity Calculations: Provide input into capital estimates and perform quantity calculations.
  • Operational Readiness: Coordinate operational readiness requirements to support seamless project execution.
  • Schedule Compliance: Monitor schedule compliance, escalating potential schedule risks as needed.
  • Construction Support: Offer construction support, handling Technical Queries (TQs) and updating design documentation.
  • Vendor Proposal Assessment: Produce equipment data sheets and assess vendor proposals for budget and technical compliance.
  • Statutory Regulations and Best Practices: Ensure designs meet statutory regulations, project standards, and industry best practices.

Requirements:
  • Tertiary Qualifications: Tertiary qualifications in Mechanical Engineering (preferred), or Chemical or Civil Engineering, recognized by Engineers Australia.
  • Experience: At least 3 years of experience in piping systems and pipeline design, preferably within mining or engineering consultancy.
  • Mine Dewatering Experience: Previous mine dewatering experience is highly desirable.
  • Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Australian and International Standards: Familiarity with Australian and international standards and regulatory requirements in mining and water industries.
  • Travel Requirements: Ability to travel to site as required (short trips for scoping and stakeholder engagement).
  • Problem-Solving Abilities: Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage timelines, and meet budget targets.
  • Software Proficiency: Proficiency in software such as Visio and ArcMap (preferred).
  • Full Work Rights: Full work rights in Australia are required.
Salary and Benefits

The salary for this role is approximately $120,000 - $150,000 per annum, depending on experience. Additionally, you will enjoy excellent hourly rates, exposure to large-scale impactful projects, a collaborative team environment, an Employee Assistance Program (EAP), and corporate discounts.
