Your Role

As a System Development Engineer, you'll be responsible for designing and building tools and processes for monitoring, operating, and scaling ground infrastructure. You will utilize metrics, scalability in design, and continuous improvement to automate repetitive processes, ensuring high availability of the ground infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

  • Automate manual processes to continuously strive for operational excellence.
  • Evaluate system designs to ensure they are robust, scalable, maintainable, and adaptable as the service scales and evolves over time.
  • Develop and maintain critical infrastructure, tools, and operating procedures to report on the health of ground infrastructure.
  • Integrate with existing systems such as trouble ticketing, dashboards, and metrics tools and services.
  • Measure and improve the performance and availability of the Kuiper Ground Infrastructure.
  • Provide critical operations support and incident response for the service, while participating in an on-call rotation.

A Day in the Life

You'll work closely with business partners, leadership, and other engineers to influence and lead the design of systems. Your ability to take initiative, innovate, and produce results will drive our mission to continuously improve the customer experience.

About the Team

The team is comprised of experienced professionals from North America, Europe, and Australia, working together to ensure the Kuiper Ground Infrastructure is always available to serve customers.

What We Offer

We offer a competitive estimated salary range of $140,000 - $200,000 per year, based on your experience and qualifications. Additionally, we provide a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision insurance, 401(k) matching, and paid time off.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • 4+ years of experience deploying and operating in a Linux/Unix environment.
  • Knowledge of at least one modern programming language such as C, C++, Java, or Perl.
  • Practical experience in networking, storage systems, operating systems, and hands-on systems engineering experience.
  • Ability to design or architect new and existing systems.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience writing technical documents, project plans, and progress reports to leadership and stakeholders.
  • Curious to learn in-depth about both technology and our customers.
  • A self-starter with a proven track record of diving into unknown territory, learning new concepts, and pushing your comfort zone.
  • An effective multi-tasker who navigates a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment with ease.
