Midwife Care Specialist

We are seeking an experienced Community Midwife to join our team in Broken Hill, providing high-quality health services to the Aboriginal community.
Job DescriptionThe successful candidate will work as part of a multidisciplinary team, coordinating and assisting with midwifery treatments and care activities using a patient-centered approach. This role involves:
- Coordinating and assisting with a wide variety of midwifery treatments and care activities in a general practice clinic.
- Working as part of the Child and Family Program to provide safe and effective community midwifery services and ensure continuity of care for mothers and children through pregnancy, infancy, and childhood.
- Mentoring and supporting Aboriginal Health Practitioners and trainees with ante-natal and post-natal care, promoting active participation at all times.
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Competently performing clinical midwifery duties identified in maternity care plans according to best available evidence, including antenatal and post-natal assessments, baby checks, immunizations, and other injections.
- Implementing AMIHS Program Activities in collaboration with maternity, medical, obstetric, and pediatric staff to provide a range of community-based services for Aboriginal women and their babies.
- Developing and maintaining a positive working relationship with the Broken Hill Health Service midwifery team to facilitate best practice, culturally appropriate care throughout pregnancy and the postnatal period.
To be successful, you will need:
- A current unconditional registration with AHPRA as a Registered Midwife.
- A minimum of 3 years' midwifery experience, preferably in a community role.
- Authorisation as an immunization provider in New South Wales or the ability to obtain it within 3 months of commencing employment.
This full-time opportunity offers a salary up to $113,000 gross per annum, plus superannuation. In addition, we offer:
- Retention bonus of $5,000 paid after 1 and 2 years of full-time service.
- Temporary accommodation for 4 weeks.
- Relocation assistance to help you settle in Broken Hill.
- Home base travel allowance to maintain contact with your family – $600 allowance on completion of each 6 months of service for 2 years.
