VMware Infrastructure Specialist

This role requires a skilled VMware expert to join our onsite IT Infrastructure team on the Gold Coast, supporting and optimizing the virtual infrastructure that underpins our critical business operations.

The successful candidate will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure stability, scalability, and high availability of our VMware environment. Key responsibilities include designing, implementing, and managing VMware vSphere environments, including ESXi hosts, vCenter, and virtual machines.

  • Design and Implement: VMware vSphere environments, including ESXi hosts, vCenter, and virtual machines.
  • Configure and Maintain: VMware High Availability (HA), DRS clusters, and resource pools.
  • Troubleshoot and Optimize: Virtual infrastructure using vRealize, SolarWinds, or similar tools.
  • Manage VM Lifecycle: Provisioning, snapshots, templates, and cloning.
  • Integrate and Develop: VMware platforms with SAN/NAS storage and virtual network configurations.
  • Develop Disaster Recovery: Using native and third-party tools.
  • Maintain Compliance: Infrastructure compliance with internal policies and industry regulations.
Requirements and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Minimum 3 years' hands-on experience managing VMware infrastructure.
  • Proficient in VMware vSphere 6.x/7.x/8.x, vSAN, and VMware Cloud solutions.
  • Strong background in Windows Server, Linux, Active Directory, and core networking (DNS/DHCP).
  • Scripting experience in PowerShell or Python for automation tasks.
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex issues across virtual, storage, and network layers.
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills.
  • VMware Certified Professional (VCP-DCV) or higher.
  • ITIL Foundation or Microsoft certifications (e.g., MCSE).
  • Experience working within financial services or regulated IT environments.
