Shelter Support Professional

Our team seeks a Housing Support Specialist to provide daily living support and services to residents in need. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, be able to work independently, and demonstrate a commitment to helping marginalized populations.
Responsibilities:
- Support resident plan development and delivery of essential services
- Build rapport and trusting relationships with residents
- Participate in intake procedures and programs to help residents achieve their goals
- Maintain a safe and welcoming environment for residents
- Respond to medical emergencies and provide basic first aid
- Liaise with partner agencies and professionals to ensure comprehensive support
Requirements:
- Diploma in a related human service field
- At least one year of experience in a similar role
- Basic computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
- Training in crisis intervention and harm reduction approaches
Essential Skills:
- Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and communication skills
- Ability to work in an intense and challenging environment
- Knowledge of local resources and services available to shelter users
The successful candidate will have excellent interpersonal skills, be able to work effectively in a team setting, and possess a passion for supporting vulnerable populations.
