About Our Meat Department

We are seeking a skilled butcher to join our team. The job will be located in Cottesloe, Western Australia.

As a butcher, you will be responsible for meat processing, including cutting, trimming, boning, tying, and grinding raw materials to company standards. You will also promote sales by focusing on merchandising, quality, freshness, and expanding customer experience.

Our ideal candidate has a passion for creating great cuts of meat for a diverse range of customers. They have minimum 5 years butchery experience or AQF Certificate III including at least two years of on-the-job training, or AQF Certificate IV (ANZSCO Skill Level 3).

The successful applicant will have the following skills:

  • Experience in breaking of Beef, Lamb, Pork and Chicken;
  • Experience with product preparation and presentation for sale, in a supermarket environment;
  • Food handling/safety knowledge;
  • Excellent merchandising skills;
  • Excellent Customer Service;
  • Team player with good communication skills;
  • Positive attitude.

Job tasks and responsibilities include:

  • Preparing meat for sale by removing bones, trimming fat and cutting, mincing and grinding meat to shape and size for display or as ordered;
  • Preparing crumbed cuts of meat, and marinating, seasoning and curing special cuts, selecting and preparing meat to produce small goods;
  • Operating machines to grind, mix, mince and tenderise meat;
  • Selecting and preparing meat to produce smallgoods;
  • Operating sausage filling machines, smoking chambers, and cooking kettles and vats;
  • Weigh, package, pricing, and displaying products;
  • Keep records, budgets, and inventory;
  • Perform quality inspections on meats and other products;
  • Making seasonings and pickles by mixing spices, salt and other ingredients;
  • Clean and maintain tools and equipment;
  • Ensuring displays and signage are accurate and attractive;
  • Advising customers on the suitability and uses of cuts of meat;
  • May assist in menu planning and scheduling, and in estimating food production costs;
  • Pay: AU$77,000 - AU$85,000 per year;
