Job Overview

This role supports the development of trade and investment opportunities in Australia's infrastructure sector.

  • Maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including businesses and government officials.
  • Provide advice on trade and investment opportunities and challenges.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to deliver trade and investment programs and projects.

The successful candidate will work closely with a team of experts across five diplomatic missions in Australia as part of the UK's network in the wider Asia Pacific region.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop business strategies to achieve trade and investment objectives.
  • Maintain and develop relationships with key stakeholders, including businesses, government officials, and industry leaders.
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities and partnerships.
  • Support broader investment activities where appropriate.

The role requires strong communication skills and good interpersonal skills to enable the development of trust and business relationships across government and industry.

Requirements
  • Able to work at high intensity using own initiative, judgement, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills – able to work closely with team leaders and senior management and help drive accountability.
  • Able to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Able to conduct research and analysis to support and generate business opportunities.

Desirable qualifications, skills, and experience include some knowledge of the infrastructure sector in Australia, commercial experience, particularly in a sales/account management environment, experience of export activities, and knowledge of the Australian business environment.
