Role Overview

This part-time opportunity is available in the laboratory setting of a leading healthcare provider. As a Laboratory Assistant, you will be responsible for sample sorting and processing in the pre-analytical area.

The role involves specimen reception and data entry, preparing samples for analysis, assisting scientific staff with automated instruments, general laboratory duties as required, and assisting with phone enquiries.

Key Responsibilities
  • Sort and process samples in the pre-analytical area to ensure efficient laboratory operations.
  • Receive and enter data accurately and efficiently, ensuring high-quality results.
  • Prepare samples for analysis according to established protocols and procedures.
  • Assist scientific staff with operating automated instruments, contributing to smooth laboratory operations.
  • Perform general laboratory duties as required, supporting the team in achieving high-quality results.
  • Provide support with phone enquiries, maintaining excellent communication skills.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you'll need excellent communication and organisational skills, along with high attention to detail to ensure maximum accuracy of processing. A strong commitment to laboratory turnaround times is essential, with previous relevant laboratory experience highly regarded.

A flexible approach to work is required, as you will be working a rotating roster involving shifts from Monday to Sunday between 05:00 am – 9:00 pm. Good keyboard skills and the ability to work as a team member in a busy department are also necessary.
