Dean of Curriculum Job Description
We are seeking an accomplished educational leader to fill the role of Dean of Curriculum. As a member of our school community, this individual will play a pivotal part in driving student success by promoting effective instructional practices and leveraging data.
Main Responsibilities:
- Provide coaching and modeling for teachers to enhance their organizational skills, lesson design, instructional delivery, and assessment techniques, particularly in core subjects such as English language arts, social studies, science, and math.
- Conduct demonstration lessons, one-on-one observations, and group observations to ensure that all teachers have received advanced training and are utilizing instructional materials effectively.
- Deliver on-site professional development sessions to guarantee that teachers possess comprehensive knowledge about core and intervention program components and can implement the instructional design to meet standards.
- Serve as a resource for identifying suitable instructional strategies and interventions to boost student achievement for diverse learners, including English language learners, students with disabilities, and students with varying learning needs.
- Assist teachers in creating an engaging classroom environment focused on content and instructional strategies embedded in the program.
Key Qualifications:
- Collaborate with teachers to adhere to course content, course guides, and pacing guides.
- Participate in collaborative meetings with grade-level or department teams to analyze and utilize assessment data to enhance student achievement.
- Maintain professional competence through participation in professional development activities provided by district, county, state, and other consultants.
- Observe and model instructors, offering insights to improve the teaching-learning situation.
- Assume responsibility for reviewing and evaluating results of assessment programs and other evaluative measures used by the site and district.
- Collaborate with CTE coordinators, business leaders, and industry professionals at state, regional, and national levels to develop curriculum and instruction.
- Work closely with secondary district academic coaches (DAC).
Addtional Skills:
- Leverage District adopted curriculum, including Common Core State Standards, to drive student success.
- Design and present professional development activities that promote increased student-learning outcomes.
- Foster implementation of exemplary instructional practices in areas such as developing, organizing, and presenting professional development activities; working collaboratively with others; conducting one-on-one instructional coaching; and facilitating group observations.
