Mental Health Inpatient Caregiver

Mental health inpatient senior social workers are integral members of a collaborative team at the mental health inpatient units. Their primary responsibility is to provide high-quality social work services to patients across the units, as well as community mental health consumers and their families.
- Deliver high-quality patient-centered care and participate in quality improvement initiatives within the clinical setting.
- Develop and implement structured rehabilitation programs and therapeutic interventions tailored to individual patient needs.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and report directly to the nurse unit manager level 3.
The ideal candidate will possess extensive knowledge of evidence-based social work practices in inpatient mental health settings and demonstrate a commitment to ongoing professional development and quality improvement.
Key Responsibilities- Provide professional social work services to patients, including assessment, intervention, and discharge planning.
- Support patients through the transition from admission to community integration, focusing on social, vocational, clinical, and living skills components.
- A bachelor's or postgraduate degree in social work or an equivalent qualification, along with full membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW).
- Strong interpersonal and written communication skills, enabling effective engagement with patients, families, and healthcare professionals.
- Ability to consult with health, community, and welfare professionals, as well as work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams.
