At Roy Hill, we're seeking an experienced Biodiversity Principal to lead our environmental team in Perth. This exciting opportunity allows you to shape the future of our industry and organisation.
About the RoleIn this newly created position, you'll provide leadership and subject matter expertise to support the development and implementation of the Roy Hill biodiversity program. Reporting to the Manager Environment and Approvals, you'll have a real opportunity to contribute to our long-term environmental strategy.
You'll be joining a collaborative culture that fosters knowledge sharing and innovative solutions. Mentoring a team of environmental professionals, you'll have the chance to build upon the biodiversity offsets program for Roy Hill and its future satellite mines.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement management plans, strategies, and related documents for environmental compliance, performance, and biodiversity, including necessary approvals documentation.
- Liaise with regulatory bodies to gain approval for required management plans and ensure their effective implementation.
- Support development and implementation of environmental educational training and awareness programs and provide expert technical environmental advice to internal stakeholders.
- Engage with external agencies, including PEOF, DCCEEW, DBCA, traditional owner groups, government regulators, research institutions, NGOs, and consultants to meet Roy Hill's offset obligations and ensure compliance with environmental management and monitoring programs.
- Develop and implement biodiversity offsets projects in conjunction with government, NGOs, TOs and pastoralists.
- Tertiary qualifications in Environmental Science or a related discipline.
- Proven experience in developing and implementing biological survey/management programs.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and facilitation skills, with strong experience in networking with regulators and stakeholders to achieve biodiversity goals.
- Proven experience in providing high-level strategic advice, developing and implementing environmental plans, and ensuring legislative compliance.
- Comprehensive understanding of state and commonwealth environmental approval legislation associated with environmental management in the mining industry (particularly the Environmental Protection Act 1986 and the Environmental Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999).
- A competitive salary package, estimated to be around $140,000 - $180,000 per annum, depending on experience.
