Academic Leadership Opportunity

 

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Academic Manager to join our academic team. This is an exciting opportunity for a self-motivated ESL professional looking for a long-term position with our organization.

The successful candidate will provide high-level academic support to the Operations Manager, working closely with colleagues across different campus locations. Key responsibilities include supporting teaching staff, interviewing and trialling new teachers, providing teaching schedules and timetables, observing teachers and providing feedback, liaising between teachers and administration, and providing professional support as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and CELTA (or equivalent) qualification desirable
  • Relevant ELICOS experience in a management or supervisory role in Australia
  • Exposure to, or direct experience in managing ELICOS programs, possibly as a Senior Teacher or A-DOS
  • Strong management and interpersonal skills, including demonstrated ability to engage, motivate and manage teacher performance
  • Excellent standard of written and spoken communication
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships with stakeholders across all areas of the company
  • A warm, empathetic manner in dealing with students

Key Responsibilities

  • Supporting teaching staff
  • Interviewing and trialling new teachers
  • Providing teaching schedules and timetables
  • Observing teachers and providing feedback
  • Liaising between teachers and administration
  • Providing professional support as needed
  • Mentoring young teachers as needed
  • Organising relief teachers
  • Providing reference letters when asked
  • Ordering student and teacher textbooks as needed

Student Administration

  • Testing, interviewing and placing new students
  • Counselling, supporting and giving academic advice as necessary
  • Advising prospective students on study options and assisting with enrolment processes
  • Liaising with exam managers as needed
