About the Role

In this key leadership position, you will join the Legal, Integrity & Procurement Department at the City of Greater Geelong, a community-focused workplace on Wadawurrung Country. The department offers timely and pragmatic advice on a variety of issues, emphasizing collegiality and collaboration to implement best practices in legal, risk management, integrity, and procurement across the City.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop a Clear Vision: Formulate goals to achieve a clear, inspiring vision for the team's future and communicate it effectively to lead the department.
  • Develop Departmental Capabilities: Develop departmental capabilities to meet the requirements of its future strategic goals.
  • Integrate Initiatives and Business Plans: Develop and integrate the department's initiatives and annual business plans in line with the Directorate strategy, balancing value for our community and customers within the financial, social, environmental, and resource constraints.
  • Engage Strategic Networks: Engage and build strategic networks and partnerships with key stakeholders internally and throughout the industry to drive collaboration.
  • Lead the Procurement Team: Actively engage and motivate the Procurement & Strategic Sourcing Team in a positive and constructive way to achieve Team, Department, and Organizational objectives.
  • Manage Departmental Resources: Manage all aspects of the department's resources and budget planning for effective operations; regularly tracking and reporting on performance against departmental goals.
About You

To be successful in this role, you will have demonstrable senior leadership experience along with extensive experience in procurement and sourcing management, ideally within a public sector or government context.

Essential Experience:

  • Proven track record of developing and implementing successful procurement strategies and managing large, complex sourcing projects.
  • Strong understanding of procurement laws, regulations, and best practices.
  • A tertiary qualification in procurement, law, commerce, or a related field and significant professional experience in procurement planning and contract management in a comparable organization.
  • Proven track record of leading teams through change, ensuring strong stakeholder engagement throughout the process.
